Nintendo is now a global game brand with many fans overseas. However, not many people know how it all started. In fact, Nintendo's history began as a hanafuda (Japanese playing cards) shop 100 years before the release of the NES. ......!
In the pre-war and wartime, Nintendo was the largest card company in Japan!
In the Edo period (1603-1868), karuta and hanafuda, which were often used for gambling, were banned by the shogunate. However, the ban on Hanafuda was finally lifted in 1886, during the late Meiji era. Only three years later, in 1889, Fusajiro Yamauchi, a businessman and craftsman, established "Nintendo Karuta" and started the business of manufacturing and selling Hanafuda. This is the beginning of Nintendo's history.
We have created such a Hanafuda card with the popular character Mario.
